What Chimba Does
Chimba is a WhatsApp-based translation service that helps you translate Colombian Spanish messages into English and craft replies. It is powered by AI language models.
Information We Process
When you send a message to Chimba, we process:
- Your phone number — used to identify your session, track usage limits, and manage your subscription.
- Message content — the text or transcribed voice messages you send are forwarded to our AI provider (OpenAI) for translation and reply generation.
What We Do NOT Store
- We do not permanently store your messages or translations.
- Session data (your current conversation state) is held temporarily in memory and automatically expires after 1 hour.
- We do not build profiles, sell data, or use your messages for advertising.

Chimba uses the following third-party services to operate:
Data We Persist
The only data stored beyond your session:
- Your phone number and subscription status (active, tier, etc.)
- Your usage counts (translations used, actions used) for billing purposes
- Your saved dialect preference (if you choose to save one)
- Whether you accepted the Terms of Service
This data does not include message content.
Your Rights
You can request deletion of all your data at any time by messaging "settings" to the bot (which clears your session and saved preferences) or by contacting us. We will remove all stored data associated with your phone number.
Children
Chimba is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of Chimba after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
